Find Time for this Commitment

Recently, I have been thinking about honoring commitments to ourselves. It is easy to find ourselves on the short end of consideration, but with a little bit of planning we can give ourselves the time and energy to continue giving to those we often serve all day long.
First, wake up just a few minutes earlier - even 15 or 20 minutes can make a huge difference in giving you a minute to think through your day and get started on the right foot.
Second, you will figure out another time to check social media or email, and use your precious few minutes to read scripture, meditate, pray, exercise or read a book. Or all of these things. Doing something that feeds your soul, even for a few minutes, has lasting impact, even if the rest of your day seems to fly by in a blur or drag on forever.
Third, consider getting ready before children get up, before you have to be somewhere and even before you get started on your day. The difference between cleaning your house fully dressed and ready for the day versus cleaning in whatever you woke up in truly does make a BIG difference. Give it a try and discover for yourself the difference in your day.

If your commitment to yourself is to wake up and have some time for you, honor that commitment and discover what that difference brings to your life. And then go to bed early enough at night to continue honoring that morning time for yourself. This is one commitment that everyone should find time for.
