Remind yourself of things like:
* car maintenance - oil changes/tire rotations
* flip mattresses
* replace toothbrushes
* schedule checkups (put this reminder a few months ahead of when you want to get in to get the time and day you want)
* schedule dentist appointments (twice a year)
* defrosting freezers
* back up computers/download pictures
* register the car
* sign kids up for swim lessons, camps, program, sports, scouts - anything you have to sign up for on a regular basis
* holiday reminders - Valentine's, Christmas, Easter, etc. Anything you like to do for the holidays can be spread out a little more and bring much more calm and joy by being prepared and not having the stress accompany the occasion
* clean out paperwork
* taxes, insurance
* dry cleaning
* food storage rotation
* touch up paint
* trimming trees and bushes
* trimming trees and bushes
* family pictures
* yard aerated/fertilized
* 72 hour kits
* vacation planning
ETC....
Take some time to schedule things that you regularly take care of and if you use an app, put all of these things on rotation throughout the year and find yourself getting to things before they sneak up on you or you miss them altogether.
What do you do if you schedule something for a day you think will work out and in six months when the task actually comes up, it is a terrible time? Simple - push the task to a day that might work better that week or month. If it is something that is simply too overwhelming because circumstances have changed, ditch the task entirely or ask for help.
Enjoy feeling on top of things instead of surprised by them!
