Whatever it is that getting fully ready for the day entails for you, do those things. Every day. It will make a world of difference in how you tackle the rest of your day and what you are able to get done. Only getting ready part way makes your brain feel like doing things halfway...you feel like you're not quite ready for the next part of your day.
If you, for whatever reason, cannot get fully ready one day, make sure you tell yourself that for today, this is completely ready. I promise you that not holding onto getting more completely ready for the day in your mind allows you to move on with the rest of your day easier.
On days I know I am mostly lounging around because someone is sick or I am supposed to be resting my foot, I get as ready as I can or want to (brushing teeth is doing something) and then mentally check that off. Not having that hanging over my head in the back of my mind allows me to focus on whatever else I need to give my attention to.
Trust me. Try it. Get completely ready and when you are ready, tell yourself you are ready for the day and go accomplish whatever else you are doing that day. Even if it is the lofty goal of watching 3 Christmas movies because an apocalyptic sickness hit your family and you are just trying to keep the youngest one from moving out of your sight.
Merry Christmas, Friends! And stay warm!
