Use Alarms

Setting alarms on your phone is one of the simpliest and most consistent way to keep on top of things. Especially when situations are new, use alarms to help you through the first several days, weeks or even months.

My most used alarms are ones that help me remember which day is early out from school for my kids or one that goes off a good amount of time before we need to be heading to school in the morning. But, remembering to be home by the time my kids get home or setting am alarm to get certain kids in bed on time is helpful, quick and easy. (My one daughter who cries about going to bed every night will actually hear her specific ring tone and get into bed so much easier....because it was the alarm making the call, not mom. ha!)

Use them for waking up at different time on different days. Use alarms for getting your kids to their after-school activities on time and on different days. Use alarms to remember to start dinner at a certain time or exercise the pets. Use alarms for remembering to get ready for bed, so you can be in bed when you really want to. Whatever you use alarms for in your life, remember that you can turn them on or off at will.

At the end of the school year, I will set a reminder for myself to turn on my alarms at the end of summer when school starts again. I use this trick through any block of days where we have a break and I do not want to be getting up quite as early. Make a note and turn them off and on as needed.
