As you go about your life this week, be aware of how many times you pick up an item, intending to take it to another room. Or how often you shuffle around the same papers on the desk or open and check the same emails. When you look at your task list and read the same things over and over it can add some stress when none of those things are checked off. When you leave something to deal with later you are leaving it for your brain to think about and even, sometimes, you can elevate your stress level by not dealing with things immediately.
Try something new this week: if a task takes 2-10 minutes of time, do it immediately. Go put that item away correctly; when you first get that bill in the mail, pay it; when you open that email and need to respond, respond right then and put the item on your calendar. All of us have tasks we enjoy more than others, but try dealing with things on a more immediate basis this week and prove to yourself that you can speed through those tasks quickly and leave more time for the best things.
