Focus For Your Days

One thing that having assigned focus days for certain tasks does is that it gives you an automatic place to plug new tasks into. When you have a one-time task, it is nice to plug that errand into a day you know you'll be going out anyway or to add that new baking recipe to a day you already plan on being home tidying up the house.
Having assigned days for certain tasks allows you to quickly and easily decide where to plug in new things and where to add something that will be now part of your weekly routine.

If you have not tried assigning specific purpose to your days, give it a shot. What have you got to lose? Try it for several weeks and discover what focused days do for you. Remember, the whole day should not have to be devoted to one purpose but, instead, the day should have a few hours of focus with several hours for family needs, family relationships, friends, self and unplanned life.
Here is my schedule, after years of trial and error (you may need to shift things around, too):
Monday - Cleaning/Laundry
Tuesday - Computer/Paperwork
Wednesday - Errands
Thursday - Light Cleaning to catch up for the weekend/Anything I still really need to get to before the weekend/Baking/Last minute laundry needs
Friday - Free Day - it is different every time, but I hold this day apart from other's (outside my family) demands
Saturday - Yard Work/Family Fun/House Projects
Sunday - Church/Worship/Family/Rest from the norm

This doesn't mean that every week will work out perfectly. It means you have a place to throw those things that come up and then you can adjust and plan for the days as they come up. It means you get to choose when a task or errand must be done and when they can wait a week or two, being certain that your reminder will come up on a day that you most likely have time and focus to get to that task.
