The final way I push through on tasks I want done, but just don't really want to do, is to reward myself. No one can be busy and task-oriented all the time, and who would want to? The point of tasks is to remind yourself of what you need/want to do and then to move on, guilt free, to other things. I like putting things I want to do on my list so I can have those reminders about reading or crocheting or coloring when I need some calm down time. Being able to say, "if I accomplish a & b, I get to spend some time on c" is helpful to motivate me into doing what needs to be done.
Find some time to reward yourself - you do not need hours and hours to do this well. If you want time to exercise, take a bubble bath or have lunch with a friend, schedule time for those things and remind yourself that you worked hard to earn this time and enjoy it. If you are so out of the habit of doing anything rewarding for yourself that you cannot think of what to do, make a list of "fun" or rewarding things that you enjoy. The list should include things that take a few minutes to a few hours and it will help remind you of the things you enjoy when life feels a little too overwhelming.

This is so vital. It's better to plan for the list and then reward yourself so that you get the reward in your soul. Thank you Amber!
