Prioritize Your Task List

When there is just too much going on in life and your brain cannot seem to shut down, what do you do to calm your mind and do basic things, like, get enough sleep?

My biggest tip I try to remind others of, as well as myself, is that sleep is so important. But when you cannot get enough adequate sleep, it really helps to calm your mind if you write things down.

It's so simple and hardly revolutionary, but when you write down all the little things (and especially the big), you give your brain calm and assurance that things are not going to be forgotten and that the most important things will be taken care of in the order that you can deal with them.

What do you do with this list the next morning? Prioritize. If you cannot get to everything at once, take a minute to assign future dates to deal with those issues, especially for things that are not time sensitive. Once you write it down and assign a date to it, your brain will let you stop obsessing over those items and focus on the important tasks at hand.

Do your brain a favor and write those things down. You won't have to stress about forgetting, but you will allow your brain the chance to rest and repair and focus on the tasks right in front of you.
