Once you have decided what you want your life to look like
on a daily basis,
how do you make that a reality?
Remember that your schedule and task lists are there to work
for you.
You have chosen what goes on the schedule, what is important enough to
you to accomplish and therefore you have a say in how you view that list.
I have often heard the following:
“I feel tied to my list”
“The list is controlling me”
“I feel overwhelmed so I just don’t write anything down”
Successful people realize that it is okay if everything on
the list does not get done every single day.
They realize that they can get all
those tasks and lists off their brain by writing them down, save them for when they can think about
the task, and be able to fully engage with those people who matter most because
they are not trying to remember the grocery list or what to pack for the trip
next week.
Change your mindset to the wonderful realization that your planner is just holding your
brain so you can do the other stuff that comes up!
When you do this, you can
make space for creativity and relationships.
It takes brain power to remember what we are supposed to be
doing. Little changes and surprises in the day don’t stress me out the way it
does other people because I don’t forget my entire list when something comes
up. I do not try to remember everything on my own – it’s on my phone.
Most of us want to connect with those we love, but when we are
bogged down with things that are not on a written list, (and we are desperately trying to remember a mental list in our head) then it is harder to make room
for the relationships we value the most.
Remember: your task list is a tool to help you achieve the relationships and creativity you most desire.
